WELCOME TO THE BASKETBALL WEBSITE FOR DAVID WEEKS OF MIRAMAR FLORIDA

September 2011 - Present

David starts fresh at Florida Christian High School. Over the summer Florida Christian hosted a summer league, camps & other various events for the boys. David participated every chance he could. He was balancing travel ball, high school summer ball & camps. This occupied everyday of his summer with the exception of a family vacation. He spent 10 days with his brother who is serving in the Marines & with his parents. It was a great time. Since school started, David has been focusing on his grades and works out almost every day. Workouts include: lifting weights, running, jumping, sprinting or playing basketball. Between school, homework & workouts, his weekdays are full. David is also in a fall league that plays 1 to 2 games a week. In the weekends, he usually participates in tournaments both locally and in Orlando, does personal training with Ron Perry "The Shot Doctor", or works out with other high school coaches.

One of the summer events he participated in was the Reebok Headliner Camp in Pensacola. Florida prospects reported that in reference to "The Next Generation", "At 6' 6" 225 lbs Everglades freshman David Weeks is very skilled around the basket. He has nice size and uses his body very well in the post."

In October, David Weeks participated in the Adidas Superstar Showcase and then he was invited to participate in the Florida Fall Exposure Series in Orlando. David played against 11th & 12 graders. He did very well and held his own.

March 2011 - September 2011

In March we decided to try a different travel ball team called Jr Kings Basketball in Pembroke Pines & Miramar. The owner Gabriel Seraphin had been persistently calling trying to get David Weeks to play basketball for him for the last year and a half. We were with them for 4 months and if you are considering joining the Jr Kings or anything dealing with Gabriel Seraphin, DON'T!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! (Read More)

David Weeks finished the summer with the "Miramar Hurricanes" 16U basketball program coached by Coach Doobie. He was happy to have a kid that was aggressive & determined. David was young but Doobie was patient and encouraging. By the end of the summer, David showed considerable growth in the game and his body started to mature. His desire to compete was growing as well.

September 2010 - March 2011

After long consideration, we decided to move David Weeks from a private school to a 6a school. We transferred to "Everglades High School" in Miramar Florida. We thought being in a 6a public school would be great to strengthen his basketball skills. WOW, that was the furthest thing from the truth. The Varsity coach was not the coach. He had 2 assistants and one in particular ran the show. They previously coached at Miramar HS together and we're not sure what happened there, but Miramar High is much better off for having gotten rid of them. As for the JV program, the JV coach quit after the 1st game and the replacement took full advice from the assistant. The JV assistant coach was only interested in playing his 6 foot nephew and sitting a 6' 5, David. Not until the end of the season did the JV head coach see the benefit of playing David. It was too late. We had already decided to leave Everglades High School and so did 6 of their best basketball players. Not one good player stayed. As for David, we were struggling with which High School to send him to. He was already accepted to Pine Crest High School & Florida Christian High School. Both schools were far away and both had great basketball programs. Pine Crest was extremely interested in David, but after much prayer and conversations with David, we chose Florida Christian.

April 2010 - September 2010

David found out that he had multiple cracks in his lower spine and 4 fractured toes. This was due to his rapid growth. His doctor recommended that he take 2 months off. March & April he did nothing except get out of shape. May came around and his first day back to his travel ball team "Hoop Phi Hoop", he traveled to Atlanta to play in the 14U & 16U games. Throughout the summer he usually played 6 games Saturday & 4 games Sunday. He was so worn out every weekend. Playing for Jay Lee & Hoop Phi Hoop was a great experience and Jay Lee is a great teacher of the game. Basketball IQ was the #1 element Jay focused on. That summer we traveled to Atlanta multiple times, South Carolina, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Orlando and played in AAU, USSSA & JSA tournaments.

December 2009 - March 2010

David turns 14. Basketball is becoming his passion... though sometimes it is a tough call between basketball & Xbox. As a very tall boy living in Florida, there are not a lot of good basketball programs for him. Being in 8th Grade, he plays for his school, Florida Bible in Miramar Florida. His team went 13 - 2 after going 1 - 19 the prior year. The 2 games they lost, David did not play. He also played for the High School Varsity team in order to qualify for districts.

August 2009

David teams up with Jay Lee - Father of James Jones of the Miami Heat. David works out Saturday & Sunday with Jay and had just come off a year of training with Personal Trainer, Paul Sost.
